SHAKTI SADAN AT WANGBAL MAYAI LEIKAI UNDER THE MWCD & SOCIAL WELFARE DEPT. GOVT. OF MANIPUR

Rural Voluntary Services (RVS) has been running a Shakti Sadan for destitute women and victims of trafficked women and girls ( including the vulnerable women and girls) at Wangbal Mayai Leikai, Thoubal District, Manipur with the financial assistance from the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt.of India and Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Manipur. The following are the main components of the project;

The following are the main activities of the project:

I. Care & Support Service Facilities :

a) Motivational Counseling: Motivational counseling has given to the needy women that help individuals resolve ambivalence and increase their motivation to make positive changes in their lives. It focuses on empowering the inmates to identify their own reasons for change and find the internal motivation to achieve their goals.
b) Group Discussion : Group discussion were also done once in a month with a specific common issues, assess teamwork and problem solving abilities.
c) Health Check-up : Health check-up is done by the doctor of the organization and if there is any cases required urgent were referred to the nearest government hospital immediately.
d) Counseling : Counselors of the organization provide mental psychological support, guidance and advice to the needy women who are residing in the home.
e) Inmates Welfare Meeting: Inmates welfare meeting also done to support the basic needs, health, livelihood and other well-being aspects of inmates within a correctional facility, while also respecting their dignity and rights. It’s designed to be rehabilitative and not solely punitive, with focus on preparing inmates for successful reintegration into society.
f) Jan Dhan: Jan dhan has given to the inmates of the home @ Rs.500/-per month per inmates, the amount handover to the beneficiaries at the time of discharged from the home as their future betterment.

II. Vocational Training Facilities: The organization provided certain Vocational Training Facilities such as Embroidery, Tailoring, weaving & Other Handicrafts, candy and pickles making, food processing, kitchen gardening etc. to the inmates of the Home as short term course

III. Developing Physical Facilities:

a) Yoga : In every morning and evening inmates done yoga passionately
b) Prayer with : They pray, worship of what they believe in and learn meditation
Meditation during the time of yoga.
c) Recreational Item : TV, Radio, Ludo,Carrom, Chacker etc.

IV. Other Facilities Available :

a) Fooding & Lodging
b) Medical Care
c) Legal Aid
d) Education etc.
