Open Shelter Home for girls under the Social Welfare department Govt. of Manipur

Rural Voluntary Services (RVS) has been running an Open Shelter for Girls namely “ Eramdam Ningol Sanglen (ERNS)” at Wangbal Laikol, Thoubal District, Manipur with the
financial assistance from the Social Welfare Dept. Govt. of Manipur under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) since 2015, now as Mission Vatsalya.

i) Provision of Shelter Facilities : The organization has been provided hygienic shelter for 33 nos. of poor & needy girls child including Prevention of Children including Sexual Offences (POCSO) victims within the geographical area/location of the project through the Child Welfare Committee (CWC),Thoubal District, Manipur.

ii) Providing of healthy foods for the children and hygienic shelter with a good and child friendly environment is available in the Shelter Home.

iii) Opening of 3 (Three) Points : During the period, under the report the organization were established 3(three) contact point at Wangjing Bazar, Yairipok Bazar and Khongjom Bazar in Thoubal District, Manipur.

iv) Recreational Part : Use techniques like music, drama, outing and other child friendly methodologies to attract and sustain the interest of the children. The shelter home of the organization has recreational facilities both indoor and outdoor etc.

v) Age-appropriate education through bridge education is also a major step of the home. However the organization has been arrange and provided formal education system to the children with the own sources of the organization in the larger interest of all the residing children. Vocational Training : Providing of life skill training to the children of the home is the main activities of the project and the instructor of the organization were given training to the children in different trade, such as Embroidery, Tailoring and Fabric item making, etc.

vii) The organization has been provided lockers for children to keep their belongings.

viii) Health care facilities are also provided to the children of the shelter home.

ix) Formal Education at nearby School has been provided to every child who requires and interested formal education.
