The Rural Voluntary Services (RVS) was established in 1992 and registered under the Manipur Societies Registration Act 1989 (Manipur Act No.1 of 1990) as well as registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 and Income Tax Act 1961 under Section 12A as non-profit making, non-sectarian, non-political and non-governmental organization. 
The Voluntary Organization RVS was set up with a special view to enduring relief and guidelines for promotion of the poor and observe rural socio-economic conditions pertaining to the rural people who are all living up to their fates without any reliving support from any angle throughout the Manipur State. The organization is also working in the field of poor backward destitute women and children, Transgender, Senior citizen(Old aged persons), health sector especially in the field of prevention and control of HIV/AIDS, and rehabilitation Centre for addicted females in the State. The RVS is secular in nature having objective of multi-sectoral development without discrimination of any caste, creed and religion. Since its inception RVS has been undertaking various activities for welfare of the most disadvantage group of society especially for destitute women and children & Transgender welfare programs.

Rural Voluntary Services (RVS) visualizes a world-wide exploitation free system where all men and women will live peacefully cutting across the barrier of caste, creed, clan or colour with dignity to each other.

Mission Statement
The mission of the organization is to cause sustainable development to the poorer section of the society with a prime focus on the wretched women and children.

Our Key Objectives:

  1. Foster Empathy and Understanding: We seek to promote empathy and understanding among individuals from different cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. By organizing workshops, dialogues, and cultural exchange programs, we create opportunities for people to learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives.

  2. Addressing Social Inequality: Our NGO is committed to addressing social disparities and inequalities that perpetuate division within society. We work towards providing access to education, healthcare, and basic necessities to marginalized communities, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and exclusion.

  3. Promote Inclusivity: Inclusivity lies at the heart of our mission. We advocate for policies and practices that ensure equal opportunities and rights for all individuals, irrespective of their gender, race, religion, or any other characteristic that might lead to marginalization.

  4. Community Engagement: We actively engage with local communities to understand their unique challenges and aspirations. By involving community members in decision-making processes and project implementation, we ensure that our initiatives are relevant, sustainable, and impactful.

The organization has 81 staffs, 14 Peer Educator and 20 Link Workers in managing the different schemes/projects, the organization has two unique self-help group namely CHANURA SHG for HIV positive widows only and SAYON SHG for Transgender community and another five self-help group named PANTHOIBI SHG, MATOULEIBI SHG, LEISHEMBI SHG, EMOINU SHG and LINTHOINGAMBI SHG comprising of 15 members each in a SHGs.
